Can you fix squeaky stairs without replacing them?
Usually, yes. Most squeaks come from treads rubbing on risers or stringers. We re-secure and shim the steps to stop the movement.
Can you replace just one broken stair tread?
Yes. We can remove and replace a single tread and stain or finish it to blend with the rest of the staircase.
Can my old stairs be refinished to match new floors?
In most cases. We sand the treads, apply your stain and finish, and paint or protect the risers so the stairs coordinate with your refinished or new floors.
Are loose stair treads a safety issue?
Yes. A loose or cracked tread can cause trips and falls, especially for kids and older family members. We recommend repairing them promptly.
Do you repair stairs in older and historic homes?
Yes. We work in many older homes in Norfolk, Portsmouth and Hampton and take care to preserve original stair parts where possible.
